Alex is the Managing Editor of The Bilerico Project and also works as an elementary school teacher in France, down the street from a spectacular view of the pays Stephanois. He went to Whitman College, a small school in the Blue Mountains of eastern Washington, where he studied biology, debated, and worked with a local LGBTQ group. Since then he has gone on to live in many places, including southern Maine, the Hoosier state, and central Arizona, but somehow ended up in eastern France.

He likes to think of himself as the long-lost child of Patricia Williams and Zippy the Pinhead, as well as somehow related to Régine Chassagne and Judith Martin. Alex prefers Pepsi Jazz to modern jazz and fatties and femmes to guys who say, "No fatties and femmes." He is a practicing vegetarian whose interests include queer theory, partying, and feminism.
