Donna Rose is an active educator, author, and advocate on transgender and GLBT issues.
Donna's activist roots run deep. She was the first (and only) openly transgender member of the Human Rights Campaign Board of Directors, where she also served as the national co-chair for Diversity, until resigning in Oct. 2007 in response to the ENDA fiasco. She was one of two transgender members on the HRC Business Council (2003-2007) and was directly involved in many of the important workplace efforts to support transgender employees.
Donna remains the first (and as of this writing, the only) transgender board member for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), and the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). She is a former co-chair of the Transgender Advocated of Central Texas (TACT). She is a member of the Transgender Advisory Council for Out and Equal Workplace Advocates, and will be a co-chair of the 2008 Workplace Summit in Austin, TX. She is a member of the Transgender Advisory Board for the National Center for Transgender Equality.
Donna's efforts have been highlighted in USA Today, Fortune magazine, The Advocate, Entertainment Tonight, and in countless other national and local publications and media. Her memoir, Wrapped In Blue, was a 2003 Texas Book Festival Featured Selection and remains one of the most honest accounts of a gender transition yet written. Donna is an engaging speaker, and is invited to share her experiences at workplaces, universities, and conferences around the country.
When she's not traveling the country Donna resides near sunny Phonix, AZ. Her popular website is donnarose.com, and she regularly shares her fascinating life and insights on her personal blog there.
