Did anyone else notice that inbetween covering a news conference for a lost little boy who isn't lost anymore and the decades overdue trial of a KKK killer, Rumsfeld got his teeth knocked in by Ted Kennedy?

We were watching CNN as the Klansman got his commupence - 60 years in jail. As soon as it was over, the anchor reported that Kennedy and Rumsfeld had sparred. Rewind the tape, Bob. Let's show these viewers what they missed...

"This war has been consistently and grossly mismanaged. And we are now in a seemingly intractable quagmire. Our troops are dying. And there really is no end in sight," Kennedy said, as the Secretary of Defense sat opposite him during an appearance before the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Arguing that "the American people, I believe, deserve leadership worthy of the sacrifices that our fighting forces have made, and they deserve the real facts," Kennedy told Rumsfeld, "I regret to say that I don't believe that you have provided either."

"In baseball, it's three strikes you're out," Kennedy told Rumsfeld. "Isn't it time for you to resign?"

Rumsfeld, who was evidently shaken by the question, paused briefly before saying, "Senator, I've offered my resignation to the president twice."

You know the reason that ShrubCo didn't accept Rumsfeld's resignation was because it would require Bush actually read something not written in crayon. Maybe if Rummy put some glitter and dotted his I's with big circles, it would interest Bush enough to read it... Naw - who are we kidding? He might have Laura the Librarian read it to him at storytime though. Here's a solution: they should just be impeached and tried for war crimes.
