I'm on another "this burns my ass" tirade...Sorry.

I'm used to biased media...I mean, really. How can you read or watch the news and NOT see the bias, one way or another? But today, I've been bombarded with images and stories of the plight of Israeli settlers getting forcibly removed from their homes in Gaza by the Israeli Defense Forces.

No, I'm not going to be yet another commentor who takes on the rights and wrongs of this policy. Everyone and their knock-off has commented on this and I'm not going to be yet another.

What I would like to comment on is the media characterization of this event.

When one is forcibly removed from one's home - at gun point - with NO choice, no negotiation, not even a chance to collect all of your belongings, that is NOT an "evacuation!" It's an eviction. It's a disposession, displacement, expulsion, or even a good ol' heave-ho, but it is NOT an "evacuation." I heard it called this on NPR, I saw it in the headline on the front page of today's Indy Star, I've seen it several places on the web...It's a disgrace.

Use your thesaurus, people. I bet you can't find one that equates an eviction to an evacuation...If you do, throw it out.

I feel no sorrow nor sympathy for any group/nation/race that steals land from another group/nation/race and then feels the repercussions decades later. I'm sorry that people are being forced to leave their homes, but they should never have built those homes there in the first place. These homeowners had plenty of time to pack up and move -- the deadline to move was no surprise -- and they are reaping what they have sown, to be very biblical about it.
