Hybrids are a key part of Toyota's effort to reduce the automotive industry's dependence on foreign oil, said Jim Press, the company's North American president and COO.
The company is also developing vehicles that use clean diesel, natural gas and hydrogen power.
Good news from Toyota
Toyota announced today that it plans to add 10 new hybrid cars to its lineup. They expect that 25% of their sales in the next decade will be hybrids. Toyota is trying to be the environmentally friendly car-maker just like BP (Remember when it was British Petroleum instead of Beyond Petroleum?) is trying to be our oh-so-friendly "energy provider."
