And the city of Indianapolis wonders why an inclusive Human Rights Ordinance is necessary? These religious extremists will stop at nothing to terrorize the Hoosier LGBT community. The only thing missing from the equation is hate-mongers like Eric Miller or Micah Clark egging on the mob with a flaming cross...

About 25 members of the Old Paths Baptist Church protested Monday afternoon outside The Inner Chef, chanting anti-gay slogans, burning a gay pride flag and brandishing signs with messages like "Fags Die, God Laughs."

Bobb Easterbrook, a clerk at the store, was the only person working there at the time.

"I was playing on the computer and somebody came in and said to look outside," Easterbrook said. "I was like, 'Ahh. Uh oh.' I'm going to hell, I guess."

...

The Old Paths group began the day with a protest behind Woodburn Hall. Though the group has been to IU many times in the past few years, Monday's demonstration was larger than usual, complete with children playing instruments and singing songs beside the sign-wielding adults.

...

John Lewis, pastor of the Old Paths church, said his group burned the flag there because it believes gay people will burn in hell.

"The elite city of Bloomington harbors an elitist, faggot business called The Inner Chef which openly and unabashedly claim they are against God Almighty," Lewis said. "... We were there to cry against it. We burned the flag, and we will do it again."

Man-- and this is posted on the 67th anniversary of Kristallnacht -- the progroms in Nazi Germany against Jewish homes, BUSINESSES and synagogues which signaled the start of the Holocaust.

Kinda makes you wonder why the "powers that be" don't get it. Or maybe they do and just don't care about us?

As disheartening as it is to see this kind of protest happening in any city, I commend Easterbrook and Chambers for keeping their chins up and having faith in their community.

And props to Trina Hamlin, the Columbus resident who stopped in the shop and purchased a few things after seeing the protestors.

As for the graf in the story that made me chuckle despite my best intentions: "The protestors left promptly at 3:15 p.m., boarding a bus covered in large photographs of aborted fetuses."

Protest leader: "Everyone, c'mon, the Fetus Bus is leaving! That means you, Peter. I'm sick and tired of having to tap my foot while we wait for you to buy a postcard or some ice cream. We've got gay people to hate on, mister!"

i know this is way too late to get anybody to read; but i never would have even heard of this store if it werent for that idiotic protest. i decided to pay a visit after reading this story, and spent nearly $200 on awesome kitchen stuff. way to go, old paths bible kooks!
