Resurgence of Hate Group Activity In Michigan Concerns Gay Activists
The KKK wants you to support the American Family Association (AFA), according to a weblink discovered by gay activists in Michigan.
The American White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, Inc. identifies strongly as a Christian advocacy group and they seem to be fans of the AFA, which is one of the leading anti-gay organizations in the nation. Here is how the Klan site describes themselves:
"We are not a hate group and take offense to those who consider us as such... We are a Christian organization and... We strive to lead Christian lives and obey Yahshua's teachings... We understand that we will be chastised for showing the world it's sinful and wicked ways as the Jews and others did to our Lord and Savior many years ago. That is fine with us for we know that one day we will reap our reward in Heaven when the final and ultimate SEGREGATION takes place. Where will YOU be on that wonderful Day?"
The Klan also links to "Khristian Kids Korner," KKK where they make statements like: "Is it ok to play with children of other races? No." And, "Why does mom get upset when I say the word 'nigger?'" And, "Why are blacks not as smart as white people? Because people are animals too. Just like different breeds of animals are smarter than others, so are people."
The AFA has faced mounting criticism over the years that they are not truly a "family values" organization, but merely an anti-gay extremist organization. The AFA supports gays being sent to prison for violating sodomy laws and they have refused to clarify whether they support the killing of gay and lesbian people. Floyd Cochran, former Aryan Nation activist, has likened the AFA to the Nazi's.
One website has an AFA activist quoted as saying "...hate is an absolutely necessary family value for the traditional American family. Without the value of hate, one could not differentiate between good and evil, to love what is good and hate what is evil."
AFA of Michigan is based in Midland, where the KKK (another branch) has successfully convinced local access television to air a program on the KKK. Also a neo-Nazi organization - National Socialist Movement - has approached Central Michigan University to become an official club. (CMU Life 10/21/05)
"The AFA needs to explain why the Klan is so fond of them," said Sean Kosofsky, Director of Policy for Triangle Foundation. "If the AFA does not distance themselves from the agenda and mission of the KKK then we can only assume their 'Christian advocacy' goals have similar motivations."
Yesterday's Detroit Free Press also featured a story about Klan resurgence in Macomb County.
