images.jpg Today is the saddest day of my life. Fifteen years ago, I adopted a stray kitten who's mother had been hit by a car. I fed her with an eyedropper and washed her behind with a warm washcloth. I was there when her eyes opened for the first time.

I slept with her every night and whispered my secrets to her when I was depressed. She never told anyone. Every Wednesday and Saturday morning I gave her a can of Fancy Feast and smiled as she talked to me through the ritual. She survived breast cancer five times. She outlasted numerous boyfriends, countless apartments and myriad roommates.

She was an ever present part of my world and my life.

She died tonight.

I will miss her profoundly. I already do.

I'm sorry about your loss Bil. We give them a safe warm home and they give us so much more than that.

I'm so sorry to hear, Bil. I hope it's a little comforting to know that she wouldn't have stayed with you for 15 years if she wasn't profoundly happy.

Bil-

Sorry to hear your kitty died. I'm sure your loving memories of her will live on forever.

The Indy Humane Society has a "Pet Angel Memorial Service" scheduled for this weekend; you can read more about it here:

I greive for you. You gave her all you could, and I am sure she loved you with all her heart. Take time to remember although it hurts.
