While President Bush visited Indianapolis yesterday (see Advance Indiana for a great post on the visit) to raise $500,000 for Rep. Mike Sodrel, Baron Hill also held a small rally. Hill is the congressman who lost his seat due to redistricting after the census. He and Sodrel fought a long hard campaign and Sodrel beat him - barely. This article, I think, best sums up why Hill should be sent back to Congress.
Hill, who served three terms in Congress, said he is running again largely because of the Iraq war. He voted in the House for the war, and he said he wants to make up for it.
"I tried to be bi-partisan with that vote, and when I found out later that it was a misrepresentation, I was angered by it," Hill said. "When I go back to Congress, I'm not going to accept everything that the president tells me anymore."
