Forget Brokeback (I might be the only gay man in America that hasn't seen it yet and doesn't especially care), I watched Mysterious Skin last night.
I've never been a huge Greg Araki fan. This is only the third of his films that I've seen (The Doom Generation and The Living End being the first two). I always felt like he was trying a little too hard to be graphic and artistic, and way too hard to be a cool gay representative.
But I loved this movie. I think it's an important movie.
I loved it so much that I might watch it again before returning it, and I never do that.
I don't even want to tell you a little bit about what it's about. If you haven't heard of it, you should go into it blind, but you should definitely see it. Do so, even though it's not exactly a pleasant movie to watch.
