I've been blogging for what feels like a coon's age, but I'll admit that one thing I've never been very good at is keeping up with many other blogs from Indiana. Most of my blog reads are from far off places like New York and Wyoming and Seattle.
And so then I thought, since I promised Bil that I'd keep this up during his absence, why not share with you some of my favorite gay blogs and why I like them? That way you can worship them too.
5 Cents a Dance. This guy is an incredible writer and photographer in rural California.
Addaboy: He doesn't post as often as I wish he would, but his blog is refreshing and interesting. I hope you get the chance to hear his phone voice sometime. I think this is perhaps the one thing that made gay men start saying, WOOF.
Ajax in the City: I started out liking him because he's hot. I like him now because he's hot and fascinating.
GGwoo: He's my inspiration (my blog daddy, if you will). Way back in 2000, I said to myself, "I want a website like Beau's." He's an especially good read if you like gardening and cooking.
Joel Derfner: He's a published gay author, and a go-go boy in a bar, and an aerobics instructor, and he's totally in love with the man of his dreams. What's not to like?
Knottyboy: He's a very out artist who lives in the middle of B.F.E., Wyoming. That takes guts. He approaches his rural neighbors with grace and honesty and humor.
Towleroad: The website of Andy Towle, former editor of Genre magazine. I read it because, well, everyone else does.
Traveling Spotlight: This guy is an inspiration. He's a comic, and he's overcome what was supposed to be terminal cancer, a seriously dysfunctional childhood (with a mother who got married 16 times), and moving across the country without a job to make his life better. He's a personal friend I'm glad to have.
TunaGirl: Okay, she's straight, but she's the world's best fag hag. (And I mean that as a HUGE compliment.)
V-hold: He's hot, and the nicest guy you could meet. He combines belonging to a leather/discipline group with wanting to adopt a baby (and a slew of other things that make him interesting). And this one does have an Indiana connection (a boyfriend from Kokomo).
Check them out, and you'll probably find yourselves addicted like me!
