Your attention please. *raps table* Attention. Your attention please. I'd like to make an announcement.
We have new contributors joining the blog! *does happy dance* All of them will be posting their own introductions to the site, but I thought I'd get out the old tap shoes and do a little song and dance to announce their imminent arrivals.
First on the podium we have Karen Horseman. Karen is a former Indianapolis City-County Councilor (for the area we just moved into actually!) and recently ran for a seat as a Marion County judge. Although the measure was defeated, in 2002 Karen introduced a proposal to the City-County Council that would have given city employees domestic partner benefits. She is definitely a friend of the community - and being able to read her personal and political insights will be something I'll be looking forward to.
Next on stage we have Nick Clarkson. Nick is an extremely personable and thoughtful transman who volunteers his time as the INTRAA membership committee chair. He's currently a student. (If you haven't had the chance to sign up for the INTRAA website so you can read the blogs, do. Just go. They've got good stuff over there - especially Nick's posts!)
And last (but definitely not least!) we have Melissa Williams. She is a grad student (as a few other bilerico bloggers are) and also volunteers in the community. Melissa is a board member of Indiana Action Network and is active in feminist issues. As a fellow IAN member, I've watched Melissa take issues I've seen as black and white and show me the subtle nuances that lurk under the surface.
Please give them a warm bilerico welcome by leaving a comment to say hello. They'll each introduce themselves soon.
