(Editor's note: The following is a guest post by Kevin Fyffe. While I've been busy working on other projects this week, Kevin volunteered to write the post to promote this important GIFA event. While the general information is on the front page, be sure to click through and read his commentary that's posted at the end.)

If you want to know where he stands on GLBT issues, I can tell you that John is a teacher and diversity trainer in Warren Township public schools. He does NOT support a ban on adoptions by gay couples, nor does he support amending Indiana's constitution to redefine the definition of marriage.
District 89 lies in the Eastern portion of Indianapolis. In addition to Irvington, it includes parts of Warren, Franklin and Perry Townships. This district has also been declared a "toss-up" by the political pundits. In so many cases, we go to the polls and vote for the lesser of two evils but this district is unique in that not only is it a tight race but it's a tight race between an incumbent who does not support issues that affect our community and a challenger who does.
Whether or not you live in this district, the decisions made by any member of the House of Representatives affect us ALL in the state of Indiana. Anytime we have an opportunity to elect a progressive candidate, we must act on it. Its no secret that as a community we took a serious beating from the last legislative session because the balance of power had shifted to the conservative right and it seemed that we were always on the defensive. Its refreshing when a candidate is willing to listen to our concerns and not run on a platform of wedge issues. We have a unique opportunity this year to change the make-up of the House and shift the balance of power to a more progressive position on social issues. Please don't squander this opportunity we have and support any candidate statewide who supports us!
