Basham thinks she's Moses now

If you've kept your eye on Lafayette's battle for state representative, you know that LGBT-friendly Joe Micon has been facing off with challenger Connie Basham. Basham sent out an e-mail to supporters yesterday that's absolutely hilarious in it's uptight righteousness. She compares herself to Moses while calling Micon "The Evil One." (Note to readers: Micon has worked for Lafayette Urban Ministries - you know, serving the poor - for umpteen years. Basham? She's a millionaire slumlord who rents dirty, tiny apartments to Purdue students... But hey, at least she's a minor league hypocrite since she's not smoking meth with her favorite lesbian hooker, right? Right?)

Please pray, right now, that God will send the right people to the polls tomorrow,11/7/06. So much is at stake, and I firmly believe He can make the difference in the election's outcome--not only for my election, but for others around the state and country.
Last night, I was reminded by a friend to dwell on the following scripture, Luke 11:23-24: "I tell you the truth; if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

Another friend reminded me that "some plant, some water; but it is God who brings the increase." I've done all I can do at this point, and I DO believe the result rests in His hands.

And I also believe the lesson we learned in the Old Testament, when God told Moses to keep his hands in the air until victory was achieved. God provided two faithful friends to raise Moses's arms when he became too tired to do it himself. I'm trusting you, my friends, to help me keep my hands raised. I'm very, very tired; but my faith is rich and full!

So, please . . . today and tomorrow, when you have a fleeting thought of the election, please agree with me that He will provide the votes needed to make me the next State Representative and provide a voice for innocent children and seniors, a voice for true education reform and a voice for continued prosperity in the state. I'm truly believing for this answer from Him. And please pray that nationwide, voters keep the balance of power in the hands of moral, godly people. The Enemy has certainly been working overtime to tear down the credibility of God's chosen. Let's not let the Evil One win this time!

Many thanks to all of you for exercising YOUR faith right now. You hold a key in your hands. Please . . . PRAY EARLY, AND PRAY OFTEN! Get the reference there?

Many blessings on you and yours!
Connie B.

technically, when she says "the Evil One", i think she's referring to satan, not micon. but you're right that the way it's worded, she could mean micon.

This woman is downright scary! It's amazing that these people still don't get "separation of church and state"!!!!

Since when is "the right people" anyone but the entire registered electorate?

A clearer self-identification of a Dominionist theocrat I may never see!

And yes, I do get the reference of her exhortation to "PRAY EARLY AND PRAY OFTEN" which so directly parallels the old Chicago adage to 'vote early and vote often' that I hope there were very vigilent pollwatchers in every one of the precincts in her district on the lookout for "yellow button" shenanigans.
