... 'I did not have sexual relations with that faggot!'
That's why he's not stepping down from his post as HEIC (Head Evangelical In Charge) -- but wait, he is stepping down. You be the judge.

Aside from the main story, this is also heartbreaking:
"Jones, who said he no longer worked as a prostitute, described himself as a Christian and said that although he was a registered Democrat he had voted for Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush for president."
Talk about self-inflicting wounds.
A very sad commentary.
It seems more and more closets have ears, and mouths.
Let's let the evidence play itself out. No crime was committed here, so no legal auithorities will have to investigate, as in Foleygate. But the real crime here, if this is all true, which will go unnoticed, is that a man thought he could not live his life truthfully.
He is not alone. That he chose to be hypocritical is another layer of sadness on this whole affair.
rick, at least two crimes are alleged to have committed here: prostitution and possession/use of a controlled substance. though that doesn't mean there's enough evidence to warrant a criminal investigation.
Great catch, Steph! More evidence that Jones is telling the truth that he's no gay movement pawn but is just a guy angry about a hypocrite who's leading those trying to take away his rights.
Jones reports that he first started to figure out who "Art" (Haggard's middle name is Arthur) was when he saw his face on a History channel program unrelated to gay issues. (He'd already figured out that "Art" probably wasn't from Kansas City, as he'd claimed, because, after about a year of calling from a phone with caller ID blocking, "Art" started calling from pay phones with Colorado Springs numbers.) Jones only saw a bit of the History channel broadcast and didn't catch the guy's real name but, as luck would have it, someone had left a television at Jone's exercise facility tuned to a religious channel and, when Jones was working out early the next morning, there was Haggard, name and all. But it still took looking Haggard up on the internet for Jones to learn about his antigay leadership and just how big a hypocrite Haggard is.
But Jones didn't immediately jump on exposing Haggard. From CNN.com:
"I cried many nights, I got sick tormenting myself about whether I should do this," Jones said. "I finally had to come to peace with myself ... I had to do the moral thing."
At least there's some little bit of morality to cling to in all this slime!
stAllio -- Another good catch! You'll be interested to know that it was reported tonight on MS-NBC that the Denver cops are now looking into Haggard's apparent confession of crimes.
Wow, Steph. I missed that part. Good call.
