Boy, folks are just falling all over themselves to come out of the closet these days, aren't they? The latest star to tell fans that he prefers the company of the same sex? Doogie Howser, M.D. has talked to People magazine about his sexuality.

This story started with a story out of Canada that referred to actor David Burtka, Harris's partner, as "his long-time sweetheart." Harris's publicist quickly denied the "rumor," but good ole Doogie wasn't about to start lying and covering up.

His statement reads:

"The public eye has always been kind to me, and until recently I have been able to live a pretty normal life. Now it seems there is speculation and interest in my private life and relationships. So, rather than ignore those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me, I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love."

So let's recount. This week we've had two prominent men come out of the closet - one forcibly and one willingly. (Of course, there's still Florida wanna-be governor Charlie Crist that's denying reports that he's fey as well, but with people naming names and dates, I'm sure that'll be a good story for after he gets elected! Especially since he's running as a "No queers should get married or adopt kids" type.)

Who will be next?
