An 18 year old freshman at the University of Texas in Austin was found dead of alcohol poisoning after a frathouse pledge party. While that may not be too surprising, a recently released medical examiner's report did shock the community.

The pledge was found with numerous anti-gay slurs and obscene drawings on his body - done while he lay dying. Phanta "Jack" Phoummarath's family has told the media that he wasn't gay. His blood alcohol level was .41

A tragedy, to be sure. And made even more obscene by the homophobic and bigoted scrawls they decorated him with instead of seeking medical attention on his behalf.

Phoumarrath was found dead the day after the party, his body still in the fraternity bedroom in which he passed out the night before.

Dr. Roberto Bayardo of the medical examiner's office reported that party-goers had used green and black markers to write "FAG," "I'm gay" and "I AM FAT" on Phoummarath's head, face, torso, legs and feet. Someone also added several drawings depicting naked men and women on his body and blackened his toenails.
