Growing pains

I have some exciting news about bilerico.com!

When we first started as a community blog, the main idea was to give various leaders of the LGBT community a place to blog and share more about themselves. The hope was that as community members got to know these folks a little better - the personal side as versus the professional side - maybe some of the infighting and name calling would cut down a smidge. Unfortunately, we haven't lived up to the original idea and have drifted into a bit of this and a touch of that and no real bearing.

So I'm going to take bilerico in a new direction. Other local blogs like Taking Down Words, Indiana Barrister, Masson's Blog and Advance Indiana cover politics more thoroughly than I would ever want to. There's a plethora of political blogs in our area - but no blogs that focus specifically on the LGBT community.

And there's more than politics in our community. There's entertainment, history, scholarship, news, science, humor and politics. And we'd like to be your source for opinion and news on the LGBT world. Some of the ways we'll be doing that is by providing more content from other contributors, regular features, interviews, and a complete redesign. Look for updates soon!

Not everyone, however, can commit to the time necessary to blog regularly. Therefore, we'll be losing some of our contributors that don't have the time needed to blog as often. Please say a fond goodbye to the following contributors:

We'll keep providing the content. You provide the comments and discussion. I hope everyone enjoys the changes we're implementing. Look for other announcements soon!
