As blog-edict would usually require this to go in the comments section, I want to post this on its own to make sure it is seen...

First I'd like to acknowledge Alex's awesome coverage of the evil-Ann-Coulter on bilerico and her horrible comments, along with the attention (or lack thereof) that the mainstream media has given to her hate-speech.

I would like to direct you all to this statement by Elizabeth Edwards regarding the "f-word" comment. I'm a little torn about how I feel right now, and I'd love some feedback.

When John Edwards announced his candidacy for president in '08, I was a bit unnerved. I have been SO gettin' off on the thought of Clinton/Obama going head to head in the primaries (still unable to decide which one I would personally back), that I didn't want the handsome white guy to throw in his name into the hat.

Now, I know it's probably a political tactic in itself to use his wife to release a statement (rather than issuing a statement himself) but will Edwards be the candidate that actually speaks to LGBT people (rather than safely passing the responsiblity off to the individual states while personally supporting civil unions / "separate but equal")?

I also realize that there's privilege involved in a white man's ability to speak about things that those with less privilege are able.

I feel torn right now, but I still wanted to share Mrs. Edwards statement. I'm feelin' ya girl!

Your thoughts?
