The South Bend Tribune editorializes again today against SJR-7. This is one of the strongest worded editorials yet. Again, no newspaper has endorsed the amendment!
As we have said before, we do not believe that SJR7 is needed, given that state law already bans same-sex marriage and has been affirmed by the state Court of Appeals.Furthermore, legislators ought to think long and hard before putting new legislative and policy restrictions into the Indiana Constitution, where they will live forever -- no matter what the unintended consequences.
...
Indiana doesn't need the problems that could result from SJR7, legislation that could end up hurting more than helping. Indiana doesn't need SJR7.
