Thanks for this story. Its important for everyone to know whats up with this. We put up 20 yard signs. mostly up Washington, Mich, and New York Sts. A few days later they were gone. I have another stack of 20 but waited this time. I want to have a constant canvas of them going up. Not just all on Sunday. Its good that Clear Channel is willing to repair the defaced signs.. It would be a nice thought if we could send them a note and thank them as Im sure they are getting an ear full from the nut jobs.. Who by the way may dress like Christian missionaries but the similarities end there.. Obviously.

When I was in college at IU-Bloomington in the mid-70's, I helped with a gay group who made posters to advertise the upcoming Gay/Lesbian Halloween Dance. We put the posters of campus kiosks and mounted (with string, not nails) them on trees.

A certain fraternity decided that they had a perfect right to put up copies of a poster publicizing an upcoming event they were hosting ... and just "coincidentally" their posters would be placed directly over our Halloween Dance posters. And when we went around removing the fraternity posters, we were accused of defacing and stealing their posters, and reported to the Student Affairs Office.

My point is that we can expect some creative strategies from these folks. I was steamed then, and I'm steamed now. What steams me is that they think they have a perfect right to do this.

Perhaps our next set of billboards ought to show Jesus saying, "When I say 'Behave with love toward thy neighbor', why are my teachings being vandalized?"

On some of the other sites that have picked this up, they've been debating whether or not the billboard is a distortion of scripture. From the WJD site, "The Greek word that the Roman centurion uses in this passage to describe the sick man - pais - is the same word used in ancient Greek to refer to a same-gender partner."

Yes Bil, that is the whole debate. What you have to do, once you establish what is the word we used to translate, is go back in time and find other writings from the same time that used the same word. Then compaire it to the usage in the scripture. After years of doing this, pastor jeff and his co-author have concluded that infact this term Pais is a form of same sex partner. From a period in time when sex partners of every kind were often purchesed. this Servent was his partner. Why else would this Roman go all the way to see Jesus to have him cured. If it was a simple house cleaner or stable boy why? WHY I ASK YOU..!!? Because he love him. This pies was his very much loved boy. In a way that your grandfather called your grandmother "His Girl".

The Bible provides three key pieces of textual and circumstantial evidence. First, in the Luke passage, several additional Greek words are used to describe the one who is sick. Luke says this pais was the centurion's entimos doulos. The word doulos is a generic term for slave, and was never used in ancient Greek to describe a son/boy. Thus, Luke's account rules out the possibility the sick person was the centurion's son; his use of doulos makes clear this was a slave. However, Luke also takes care to indicate this was no ordinary slave. The word entimos means "honored." This was an "honored slave" (entimos doulos) who was his master's pais. Taken together, the three Greek words preclude the possibility the sick person was either the centurion's son or an ordinary slave, leaving only one viable option -- he was his master's male lover

Bottom line is, that even if you think this, as well as all the other scriptures that we bring up are not what we say they are, wouldn't you think that Jesus would at least have mentioned how terrible us gays is? Just once.! I mean you would think that Jesus had made his whole existence about them queers the way some people carry on.. But alas.. Its just so easy to hate and it feels so good.. Maybe like the Chantix, you just need to fool the brain to think you are all full of hate and there isnt room for more.. Sigh.. if only..
