There's a fabulous new resource on The New York Times website which lets you track down who's donated to various presidential candidates. Typing "Indianapolis" into the search engine produces the following tidbits.
On the Republican side, former Mayor Steve Goldsmith is apparently backing Rudy Guiliani in the Republican primary race. He's donated $4,600, the maximum allowable by law. Secretary of State Todd Rokita, in contrast, is supporting Mitt Romney to the tune of $2,100. His wife contributed the same amount.
On the Democratic side, former Indiana Democratic Party Chair Ann Delaney is backing John Edwards to the tune of $2,300, an amount matched by her husband. Former candidate for Marion County Prosecutor Melina Kennedy is also supporting Edwards. She's donated $500 to date.
Other local notables who've donated money to 2008 Presidential campaigns included Jeff Smulyan (Emmis Corporation), Herb Simon (co-owner of the Pacers), and Bilerico's own Chris Douglas.
