The federal hate crimes bill, or the Matthew Shepard Act, will be brought to the floor this next Thursday. This means that today, tomorrow, and Saturday are the days to write your Representative expressing your support for that legislation.
Remember how similar legislation was defeated in Indiana because the crazy Right just sent in more letters about it than we did? Well, click on the image to the right to see what we need to overcome. And consider this from Pam:
Rachel Perrone of the ACLU emailed me to say that the House Majority Leader's office projects that the bill will go to the House floor next Thursday. It's time to contact your members of Congress, because they have been flooded with correspondence from the fundies, some offices reporting as many as 500-600 constituent letters generated from action items spurred on by the likes of Wildmon, Dobson, Perkins and Sheldon on the other side.We can't let them out-write us again. With over 6,000,000 Hoosiers, every Congresscritter in Indiana easily has more than 500-600 queer constituents, so we could flood their offices with more letters than the opposing side... and that's not even counting our allies.
Find your Congresscritter's home and Washington office here. Indiana Representatives are after the jump.

Sen. Bayh and Rep. Carson agreed to sign on as original co-sponsors of this bill before it was introduced. Lugar and the other 8 need to be pressured.

Start calling, folks. And then somebody more familiar with the Bible than me please tell me where exactly Jesus ever said homosexuality is wrong. All I can find is the "judge not lest ye be judged" and "love one another as I have loved you" parts. Am I missing a page?
