Hello gorgeous! I am psyched to be joining the Bilerico Project community and getting to know everyone. This site is pretty sweet and Bil, Alex, Jerame and co. should be very proud of what they are creating.

Elizabeth Edwards has staked out positions on LGBT civil rights that are superior to most every presidential candidate including her husband John. Speaking at a recent Human Rights Campaign event in San Francisco, Mrs. Edwards had this to say about President Bush's opposition to hate crimes legislation:
"This president talks a lot about good and evil and the need to seek out evil doers," she told a packed auditorium. "But he doesn't seem to recognize the evil in hate crimes. The right to live without the fear of being murdered for whom we love is not a special right."
She also spoke out about the fatal attack against 26 year-old Satendar Singh that is now being investigated as a possible racist and anti-gay hate crime. Witnesses to the attack against Mr. Singh say that he was beaten because the attackers thought he was gay.Mrs. Edwards speech comes as the Senate is expected to vote on the federal hate crimes bill some time this week.
Call your senators ASAP at 202/224-3121 and urge them to vote in favor of the Matthew Shepard Act, S. 1105.
