TammyFaye.jpgLittle did we know, but by the time I posted Tammy Faye's interview with Larry King on Friday afternoon, she had already passed on. She did the interview on Thursday night and died early Friday.

Tammy Faye was known for being unique in the Christian television community - she wasn't homophobic. She will be sorely missed.

I hope heaven is everything she hoped for.

Bil,

Thanks for sharing this with us. I think we can all learn lessons from this woman's life, transformation, acceptance and how she conducted herself in the face of her illness and inevitable death.

The sad reality is that I spent so many years thinking horrible thoughts about her. After years of seeing her while channel flipping, then the scandal in the PTL, she was just so easy to hate.
Then I actually met her. And talked with her. She was not the person we all thought. I know I found it hard to believe too. And still do to be honest. For a little better look at her, Rent the movie "The Eyes of Tammy Fay".
The world has lost a real angle.
Back in the 80's before anyone knew anything about AIDS, she was going to hospitals and hugging people who were dying. At a time when even doctors and nurses wouldnt even go in the room. Amazing. So tragic that we only learn these things when its too late to recognize them.
Luckily for us all, human judgment isnt the determining factor to entrance to heaven. God Speed Tammy.

Oh.. by the way.. did I mention where it was that I met her? I met her at The Red Party in Columbus Ohio. A huge gay party. Not only was she not homophobic.. she LOVED the gays!!!!which we should have all guessed by that aweful show she did with Jim Bullock, the Jim and Tammy Show.. Yikes!!

I only hope I have her dignity when I pass.

I hope that little doll is enjoying a big hamburger and fries right now. She was an adorable little firecracker, spunky and very charismatic. I was sad to hear her say that she had pain all the time, now she's in a beautiful place that is pain free . xoxoxoxoxo tammy

I was so sad to hear the news. I watched her on Larry King the night before her death. She was a special person. I plan to do a special dedication to her on my blog as soon as possible. I really loved and respected her.
