Whoopi takes over for Rosie on the View

The View announced on air today that Whoopi Goldberg would be replacing former co-host Rosie O'Donnell. Star Jones's old spot on the panel still remains unfilled. Hopefully Sherri Shepard will get that spot - although the article warns us not to hold our breath. (Another source says talks broke down between Shepard and ABC.)

The show lost my interest when Rosie left. I thought it was refreshing to hear my side of some of the debates actually expressed instead of whitewashed over. Thousands dead in Iraq? Pshaw. Elizabeth Hasselbeck doesn't care - she'd rather sing BushCo's praises. And Barbara Walters take a stand on anything? Riiiiight... Whoopi at least isn't shy about speaking her mind. "I love this show," Goldberg, 51, said upon joining the panel on Wednesday's show. "I love coming on it. I love hanging out with you guys."

O'Donnell approved of the choice. "Whoopi is fantastic in every way. She's perfect for the job. She's amazing and one of my favorites," she said in a statement.
