The Traditional Values Coalition has a series of offensive cartoons they've been circulating since ENDA became a possibility. While the group isn't known for their Christ-like love of truth, this latest flier steps outside of their usual circle of lies and deceit to directly attack two people who, as far as I know, aren't doing anything to their organization.
Former Bilerico Project contributor Mara Keisling and fellow activist Simon Aronoff are the latest targets of TVC's "funny" pages. (Click this link to enlarge the clip.) This hit piece describes the two activists as "a man who thinks he's a woman" and "a woman who thinks she's a man." I don't know about you, but I've met Mara personally and, uh, she's a woman. Most definitely. And from the look of Simon (whom I don't know at all), he looks like a dude to me - and a very cute dude at that!
So what gives with the Christian values of attacking your neighbors? When did Christ tell us to make mocking cartoons of each other and to engage in subterfuge and dishonesty? After all, the TVC has really ramped up the trans attacks since ENDA became more and more of a possibility. It seems they've realized that they're on the losing end of public opinion on gay rights and have resorted to attempting scare tactics based on the backs of the trans community. While Matt Foreman may have opined here on the Project about the "watershed moment" ENDA represents in relation to trans inclusion, it sure isn't stopping the far right from attempting to use that inclusion to stir fear and prejudice. I'm almost as eager for the Rapture as these far right fundies - just so I can see Christ ask them "Who the hell are you people? Didn't you read the book at all?"

Who does their photoshopping? It's HORRID!!! They stole the photo of Simon from the MetroWeekly... you can still see the letters in the background!
And yep... they're definitely grasping at straws.
