To a waiting world still trying to figure out the latest developments in the Larry Craig story, comes news today that J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, has disclosed that Hogwarts Head Wizard Albus Dumbledore is gay.

Get ready for the backlash: If you thought the outburst from the late Jerry Falwell over the Teletubbies was newsworthy, it will look like a soapbubble in a hurricane compared to the wrath of James Dobson. Republican hopefuls will scurry back to this weekend's Values Voters conference to make sure Christian Conservatives understand that they fully support a Federal Constitutional Amendment to ban this type of youth-corrupting literature, First Amendment notwithstanding. (Incidentally but slightly off-topic, conservative columnist George Will recently raised some interesting points when he asked "Who isn't a values voter?")

Funny, though, all of that special attention and mentoring Dumbledore gave Harry Potter through the seven Rawlings books seems not to have decreased the young wizard's interest in Ginny Weasley. But just in case, I understand Exodus International is establishing a special ministry to the Hogwarts student body. If prayer doesn't work to keeping him straight, maybe a few magic spells and potions will. If not, there's always waterboarding after Bush outlawed the Geneva Convention. Polish your wands and stay tuned.

Don,

I am betting that right about now at the Value Voters Summit which is happening in D.C., the head homo-haters are in an emergency session to figure out what to do. I am predicting that their messaging will revolve around Rowlings pushing The Homosexual Agenda and trying to recruit kids into a life of sodomy and Diana Ross albums.

You know the spin they'll put will be "she's pushing witchcraft and homosexuality!" Now if Ginny Weasley had only had an abortion, the trifecta could be complete in their eyes.
