Collect, apparently.

Riverdale, Georgia City Councilor Michelle Bruce is transgender and she's up for re-election. Anyone want to guess how the politics of transphobia are playing out? A local blog that panders to the lowest common denominator (c'mon, you know the type - they're not about real information or opinion as much as trying to attack a political party [particularly if the party has a lot of minority members!] or certain politicians) has decided to start attacking Councilor Bruce for being intersex. And the mayor's office joining in the fun!

“They’re just trying to use anything they can to smear me and get me out of office,” Bruce said. “The website itself is nothing, but — it hurts, don’t get me wrong — but it’s a shame someone has to go after someone’s race or gender and that’s all they can use."

“They’ve made comments previously [about being transgender],” Bruce said of [Mayor] Graham and her political allies. “She’s gone around and said we need to get that transvestite out of office — that freak of nature.”

Bruce has been endorsed by the statewide gay rights group Georgia Equality, and the National Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund, which works to elect gay and transgender public officials.

Maybe the mayor can start a "Smear the Queer" league at the local park so the kids have something to do. Just because she cares...
