Blabbeando brings us news that Details magazine is killing off the "Gay or..." segment.
A post today in Advertising Age's Adages blog says that Daniel Peres, the magazine's editor, has pulled the plug on the feature saying "It had simply run its course. It was getting difficult coming up with good ideas."
In 2004 a number of Asian American and gay organizations staged a protest outside Fairchild Publications, home of Details, over a "Gay or Asian" feature - which elicited an apology from Peres.
We've talked about a few of the magazine's choices for "Gay or..." here on The Bilerico Project. I have to say, I won't be mourning the feature's demise.

OK, now, wait, is Details a gay mag?
Or is just always mistaken for a gay mag?

No, it's not a gay mag. I tend to think of it more as "metrosexual."
I'm just curious about who thought it was "a good idea" to start with? Geez. I always thought they were too damn stereotypical instead of clever.

I dunno. It always seemed like filler to me-as if they discovered that they had a page they had to fill. Somebody did it to fill the page and an idiot upstairs decided to make it a feature. It's not jsut the gay or... feature though. I think Details as a magazine is getting a bit tired.
