A new study that found that lesbians were more likely than straight women to say that they were more stressed during the holidays:
The survey, by Harris Interactive, found that 80 percent of lesbian adults said they tend to feel more stressed around the holidays while 64 percent of the heterosexual women questioned said they tend to feel more stressed.
In addition, 51 percent of the lesbian respondents said they tend to feel depressed around the holidays. Only 36 percent of heterosexual women said they did.
I'm doin' just fine, but I'm not a lesbian.
How about you? Feeling the stress? Think this study's on to something? Think it's bunk?

I think it's more stressful for us because on top of the usual holiday shit, there's the issue of negotiating family. Do you visit yours or her? Or no one at all? If you visit family, will you stay in a hotel?
Why didn't this study address men? Is it just taken for granted that women do all of the holiday shit, like shopping, baking, etc?

I traveled from my comfy apartment in Somerville, MA to my mother's strangely cold house in balmy Augusta, GA for the holidays, and am spending ten days here due to a flight change that pushed back my plans many, many days. I was shooting for a four day visit. And now it's ten.
My sister and my mother are fighting. My dad and I are in dispute over the sale of a car, and I generally don't like speaking to him, anyway. My stepdad has "gone green" in a way that makes living with him a bit like living with a busybody old nun. And one of my four pets no longer likes me to touch her.
On the ride down I got pulled into "special security" or whatever, and one of my Xmas gifts got thrown away. My very Southern brother likes to barbecue (it is a verb) and I'd bought him this very special, one-of-a-kind barbecue sauce. Well, it didn't occur to me that barbecue sauce was a liquid or a gel like toothpaste and hair product are. Meanwhile I think the security guy just wanted my barbecue sauce.
Stress? You be the judge ;)

I just can't seem to get into the spirit this year. We haven't even put up a tree, just taping the Christmas cards that have come to our French doors.

i am not stressed, being underemployed leaves me with little money to spend on my family and friends.
Oh well maybe next year i will be more stressed because i hope to have more money.
