Looking for a holiday gift that sure to offend feminist and fundies alike? Then check out the Ass-Tray from Japanese firm Nodaya.

A review on the gadget review site Gizmodo calls this “a new low in moral turpitude,” but I’m not sure I’d go so far as to pull the morality card on this one. Offensive, yes. But likely to become as popular as Tickle-Me-Elmo (which I also find disturbing)? Probably not. So should we as feminist shoppers raise the alarm?
While the ass-tray is in poor taste and certainly objectifies the female body, is it any more offensive than the Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirts that say "Who needs brains when you have these?" Let's face it folks: capitalism loves to objectify women and turn female sexuality into a commodity. So the question becomes, do feminists do any good when they raise the alarm about objectionable products?
Let's think back to Eminem's "Slim Shady" album. LGBTQ and women's rights groups protested Eminem's use of misogynistic and homophobic lyrics, raising the profile of the album at the same time. Eminem eventually won a Grammy for that album and even performed with Elton John at the Grammy Awards that year. I sometimes think that the protests gave Eminem free advertising and many people started tuning in who probably would have never purchased and/or listened to the album without all the hype. Granted, hiphop certainly has a larger following in this country that cheesy Japanese gadgets do. But I think you get my point.
I guess I've gone and contradicted my argument by posting a picture and the link for the ass-tray. But life is full of contradictions. Now if the ass-tray were a little more Tom of Findland-esque, I think we'd have a winner on our hands!

Either way, I've seen where the cigarette goes. LOL And you know how tobacco smoke leaves this kind of yellow brown buildup? Won't that be pretty around "her" butthole?
Yeah. It's just that classy.
*sigh*
