The town of Brattleboro, Vermont has placed a rather interesting petition on the March ballot. The town will be voting to arrest President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for “crimes against the Constitution.”

While the petition has no legal standing (the town doesn’t have the authority to arrest Bush or Cheney if either visits Brattleboro), it is a rather interesting sign of the frustration many feel with the lack of oversight and consequences for the Bush Administration.

Of course the backlash against the town has been fierce (one letter writer even said: “Maybe the terrorists will do us all a favor and attack your town next, our country would be much safer with several thousand dead wackjobs in Vermont.”), but I for one say kudos to acts of defiance against this horrendous administration.

So pack your parka and go visit the town with the balls to do what the Democrats in Congress won’t.
