Ah, that darn Pope! He's such an over-achiever! Not content to simply call us an abomination and knock off early for a bottle of baby seal blood, Pope Benedict the Fearsome always has to take things one step too far.

Pope Benedict the FearsomeHere's a perfect example...

On World Peace Day, the Pontiff chose to claim that gays will poke out your eyes
lesbians will steal your men and eat their brains
86.2% of women who have abortions end up transgenderfied
gays are a threat to world peace.

Seriously.

Pope Benedict XVI in his first public address of 2008 to the faithful called same-sex marriage a threat to world peace.

The leader of the world's 1.1 billion Roman Catholics called for support of traditional families made up of a union between a man and a woman and he condemned what he called attempts to undermine the traditional family unit.

"I wanted to shed light on the direct relationship that exists between the family and peace in the world," the Pope said.

"The family is the primary agent of peace and the negation or even the restriction of rights of the family ... threatens the very foundations of peace."

It was his second attack on same-sex couples in three days.

Happy Peace Day from the Catholic church you godless heathen sons-of-bitches!

Not to worry. No one listens to B16 any more. The Vatican men, like staff of a nursing home, tell him sweet things as he prattles away while they administer his meds.

MARRY-ANNE!
where did you put the brain batter I brought home another one!

Sue

Sorry i couldn't help myself.

I thought we were only responsible for Hurricane Katrina, the World Trade Center attack and the California wildfires. I mean, world peace? I gotta step up my game!

Before he was Pope he was the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faithful--the "modern"-- and long-winded-- version of the Office of the Inquisition. He was known as "God's Pittbull." It's common thought that he was made Pope partly due to his age--the assumption being that he would pass away soon. Sort of a
cleansing of the palette after John Paul before we move onto the main course...

The main course? This appetizer is awful. I think I'll skip it and go somewhere else... LOL

And "God's pittbull?" How insulting to a noble breed. Hmpf.

The RATzinger just needs to STFU!
Besides the skinny kids are kinda tough and stringy.

What a piece of shit. He knows damn well the history of marriage, family, and the church has nothing to do with the "traditional family" rhetoric that he is spouting.

Paula you should try the Free Range Canadians, corn fed, allowed to roam around at night. A good rule to remember the ones under 25 are good man-b-q the older ones are for stewing.

Take care
Sue

"The family is the primary agent of peace and the negation or even the restriction of rights of the family ... threatens the very foundations of peace."

Of course, he fails to explain how civil recognition of same-sex relationships negates or even restricts the rights of straight couples, whether married or not. He's talking out of both sides of his mouth: What he is really saying is, "I don't want my Catholic children growing up in a world where same-sex couples aren't demonized."

The stinking hypocrite! If the Pope would say the same thing about same-sex couples that Jesus of Nazareth did --- nothing! --- he would be a better leader at making the world more Christ-like.

All Kidding aside...
The pope has strayed from the teachings of Jesus.
In our hearts some of know what Jesus said and feel the spirit in his teachings.

Over the long haul things have gotten better.
If we continue to pray for a fair world i believe we shall have one in time.
Mountains are not made in a year Moving them takes at least as long.

Take care
Pray for the Pope, that he may feel the word of Jesus.

Sue

Thanks Sue, I did not know that. : ) I'll keep that in mind.

Well, yes, Sue, you are right ... praying for the Pope is more Christ-like than calling him a "stinking hypocrite" ... even if it is true that he is talking like one.

It was his second attack on same-sex couples in three days.

As George Monbiot wrote of the previous pontiff (and as the quote reveals, Monbiot is far from alone in expressing this sentiment):

“What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence,” Bertrand Russell wrote, “is an index to his desires - desires of which he himself is often unconscious.” The Vatican’s current obsession with homosexuality suggests that something interesting might be going on. Are some of the Church’s most powerful cardinals struggling with their sexuality? Could the Pope himself be gay?

He could just as well have been talking about the current resident of the Vatican.

(Btw, did you photoshop his eyes? Or are they really like that?!)

For those who are interested, Monbiot's entire post on the topic is excellent.

It's easy to dismiss this crazy old devil but his words have a bit of power to get us all in more than a little hot water. "Kill the Queers, War will stop! I am just so thankful that peace has been the order of all these thousands of years and has been brought to the planet by the traditional family. Let us not forget the role of the Catholic Church in this flower garden of love. If anyone looks like they eat children its that old goat in Rome. I'm not a Jesus so I'll say Chase the Pope off the Planet! Oh, he makes me mad!

Brynn, No photoshopping needed. He looks that way naturally. I loved how he looks like the witch from Hansel and Gretel or something - just luring in the children... You should see the other pic I thought about putting in the post. LOL

Personally, I always thought he looks like Simon Barsinister, the villian from the old Underdog cartoons.

Oh, il Papa.

He's just jealous b/c we're getting more than he is.

It is funny that he's using all this trad. family rhetoric, which I've always associated more with Protestant fundies. The Catholics, I thought, were always more into the "natural law" type hate.

Oh, well. Le plus ca change.....
