Am I the Only Gay Man in America Not Obsessed with Zac Efron?

Zac, of course, is the star of High School Musical and the film version of the Broadway musical version of Hair Spray. This photo has caused the most recent slew of blog posts wondering "is he or isn't he gay."
Oh, we don't really know if that is Zac in the photo. The photo is of someone who looks like Zac and may very well be him. Or not. But, let's not let that get in the way of gay blogs going gaga over the latest young, bland Hollywood celeb who wears makeup and has a fashion stylist.
Of course, if Zac was Black or Asian or Native-American, the gay media would be too busy to care.

Eyes closed, generic emo/alternative hairstyle, generic cap, and generic teenage body. I really don't think it's him.
Besides, what makes one so sure this wasn't taken jokingly, if the person in the picture is indeed Effron.
And I don't buy your insinuations on racism behind this kind of coverage. I'm sure if Simone from "That's So Raven" and "Bill Cosby" were pictured in such compromising positions, we would see similar coverage.
In the grand scheme of things, I don't care to know whether someone who has publicly denied being gay is lying or not. Closet cases are of very little importance to me.

This is eye candy PLUS thoughtful critical analysis. Good job, Michael!

Yeah, he's waaaay down on my list of celebrity fantasies if for no other reason than every time I see a picture of him I feel like I've accidentally stumbled into a NAMBLA convention and am going to need a lawyer any second. Now, as for his older "Hairspray" costar James Marsden—HE I would not throw out of my ___!
And though I agree "gay media" is totally dominated by white bread, one has to also consider how many fewer celebrities are men of color to gossip about in any way. I recall some speculation about a couple of black rap/hip hoppers, but, drum roll….HOW could anyone forget that it was just last July that plenty of gay sites picked up the story and SMOKIN’ pix of black actor Shemar Moore [“Criminal Minds,” an Emmy and multiple NAACP Image Awards for “The Young & The Restless”] from the “National Inquirer” allegedly taken on a gay beach in Maui? And finally found its way into more “respectable” print like “People” and “US” magazine who quoted him saying,
"I went on vacation with two girlfriends of mine who, interestingly enough, got cut out of the pictures. We found a nude beach that, as far as I know, was a unisex beach…I had two hot chicks with me who wanted to go skinny dipping. Thank God the water was fairly warm! I’ll say it right now: I’m not gay. I love women. Women are God’s greatest creation. But I have no problem with people who are gay."
Well, I have a problem with anyone who uses the word “chicks,” [sooo sexist lame—and to think we’d briefly killed that one] but have NOOOOO problem with the pictures.
NOTA BENE: the link below leads to a Full Monty picture of Mr. Moore supplied solely in the interest of illustrating this serious discussion and is not meant for easily traumatized legal minors. Any titillation, pleasure, or displeasure you experience is your own responsibility. If you are offended by nude pictures of hot, dripping wet men of any color, please do not click on it. Repeat: do not CLICK ON IT!!!!

Oh sure, Michael. Make me look tacky. *grins*
I think Zac is cute - if awfully young. Give him about 5 years before I'd hit on him. LMAO Right now my daughter thinks he's the hottest thing on Earth though...
And Michael - a full Monty shot? Don't you know what that'll get you around here? *grins*

Good god, glad I'm not the only one who doesn't find les enfants attractive. Although a lot of guys I've been with have thought differently....

I do not find skinny men particularly attractive. I think he was very cute in Hairspray when had an extra 20 lbs. on him. I love me some thicker men. It's probably the reason I do not read much mainstream gay media. They like all them skinny white boys...

Haven't read all the new comments yet ... but like I *almost* posted earlier today:
No, Michael Crawford, you are not the only one *not* obsessed ... considering my own taste in men, and judging from the pic, this sweet fuzzy peach might be ripe for good eating in about twenty more years. Especially if Ron Clemente gives him some leftover HGH. But then again, maybe not.

Haha, I never would've thought Mr. Moore was a fan of boyzilians ala porn star style.

Judging by the number of posts you are not, but pleaeeeeezzzze! Perhaps you need to visit some twink websites. It takes me five minutes to get over a pretty face. Get a life and remember the ancient Gay saying "As you are, I was, as I am you shall be."

I had no idea that so many of you are not enamored with Zac. I guess there won't be a Bilerico Zac Efron fan club coming soon.

Haha, thought the same thing, nhs. I've heard his name around because I read gay blogs, but till Michael said it just now I thought he was from Nickelodeon, not Broadway.

1. He is twenty.
2. I am not obsessed with him but uhm if he or a look alike flirted with me, I would probably do it.
3. Am I still allowed to say do it or will that cause folks to quit the blog?

So all this commenting reminds me of a thought/question I've been meaning to ask my fellow gays for a long time:
What's the deal with the apparent gay predilection towards men who fit the same physical type as oneself?
I thought about this because I don't find Zac Efron attractive. And, not that I'm claiming to be all Young/Slick Hottie McHotterson like Zac, but I would probably generally fit into his same twinkie category -- right? Or do I just not know enough of the subcategorical names?
Anyway, the point is, I'm a little guy, and sometimes am attracted to other little guys, but also like my men solid.
I have tall gay friends who categorically only date other tall gay men.
I don't think I've ever seen a bear with a hairless gay before.
Muscle boys like to bounce off other muscle boys' muscles.
Teeny teenies tend to stick together (pun intended).
Etc.
Generally speaking, am I wrong about this, and if not, what gives? I always feel like the odd ball out for being attracted to guys that don't look like foggy mirror images of myself!
What say you, fellow gays?

It's the latest psychology-related findings. Similarity plays a considerable factor in attraction, apparently.

Maybe it's the other way around, Dustin. Like people become the type they like because they think it's cool.
I, of course, don't have that problem. I just had a boy over who's pretty much the opposite of me physically. Although we ended up both being so ironic that nothing happened. It's hard to do the sex when we keep making fun of each other....
So, like, psychologically the same? I dunno, but it was just a hook-up so it ain't a big deal. Still was a pretty cool guy. I've been in France long enough to take being made fun of. Or maybe it's all this blogging that's given me a thick skin.
Bruce~
1. Really? Cool. Still a kid IMHO, although my friends joke about how if I have a guy under 40 over I'm seeing someone a little too young for me....
2. Yeah, I prolly would too. I'm not above much, lol.
3. Yes. I want off because of Bruce's bad taste in men!
