“The ACLU and its allies seemed determined to force the Boy Scouts to bend to their version of what is right and wrong.

The culture war will be lost before we know it. If that happens, we will find ourselves living in a world where moral relativism reigns and individualism runs amok."

--Texas Governor Rick Perry in his new book on the Boy Scouts

I find the Boy Scout's prohibition against gays ironic given that the Boy Scouts was founded by a cross-dressing male, Lord Baden-Powell. The book, Vested Interests: Cross-dressing & Cultural Anxiety By Marjorie Garber, discusses his cross-dressing on page 171 (Google books, http://tinyurl.com/28lmhy).

Lord Baden-Powell was single until age 55 when married a 23 y/o butch lesbian, Lady Olave. She had been raised as a boy (http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/5/5052627) so had her own gender confusion issues.

With Lady Olave, Lord Baden-Powell was able to have a "heterosexual" relationship which involved crossed gender role play. Can we doubt Lord Baden-Powell was the typical transgendered bisexual we're all so familiar with?

Need I mention that in most reports on Lord Baden-Powell his gender dysphoria and the details of his cross role relationship with his wife are not mentioned? For example, see http://histclo.com/youth/youth/bio/b-bp.htm .
