Religion has never been big on pluralism, has it? Everything is a battle to the death with these people.
What is horrible is that they project that sentiment onto their perceived "enemies". They really can't accept that LGBT people, for instance, might simply want to live and let live--as equals with everyone else. For them, somebody's got to win, to take control, to be in charge, to make others submit.
