A couple light link suggestions since I'll be busy working on other things today. Besides, what better way to send an enjoyable work break than Kate Clinton and Garfield (minus Garfield)? *grins*
- Curve magazine is hosting a reader poll asking "Who's the funniest lesbian in America?" Contributor Kate Clinton has, of course, made the cut (and would appreciate your vote!).
- "Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life?" I'm spending way too much time here relating to the new versions...

Garfield is a corporate shell of a comic, group-worked and de-edged to the point that it makes Momma look creative and biting, used solely to sell plush toys and school supplies. of the major syndicated comics, it's by far the worst, so bad that several make-fun-of-the-comics sites I read won't criticize it, it's just that lame.
This site, on the other hand, is strangely funny. Some of the Garfields they pull are definitely improved by eliminating Garfield himself. I really wish that besides Zippy there'd be some comics that actually took risks like that and put out stuff that's not a pun or otherwise traditionally "funny." Sheesh, even TV has the Colbert Report.
