Actually, I think it's pretty effective, for what he wants to achieve. He's trying to demonstrate that he can inspire, and it accomplishes some of that. The art content also helps him appeal to younger voters, one of his weaker areas.

He's still selling war, though, and selling himself as a wartime / warlike President. His war, not Bush's -- the war he wants to continue fighting. And historically, one of America's economic strengths has been its war policy (and no, I'm not defending it, just pointing it out). But this has been one of the few wars that has cost more money than it's generated.

If he loses the election, it will be for just this reason: he has become out of touch and doesn't realize that war is no longer wanted.

Don't, however, count on him to lose. The Democrats have lost no-brainer shoo-ins before.

"Never yield to force, never yield to the overwhelming might of the enemy"

And when we are the enemy?

"Never give in to anything, except convictions of honor and good sense."

The occupation of Iraq is immoral, and makes no sense what so ever. Two wrongs will never make a right.

The stars and space stuff is like, the universe is really really old, but McCain is even older.

At least that's how I read it.

I am not sure what young people would be persuaded to vote for McCain because of this ad. The young people I know would be like "WTF?"
