Indiana House Majority Leader Russ Stilwell announced his endorsement of Barack Obama's presidential bid today. He joins former Indiana Democratic Party chair Kip Tew and current vice-chair Cordelia Lewis-Burks and former Congressman Tim Roemer in publicly supporting Obama.
"Senator Obama has the best plan to turn the economy around and create good-paying jobs across the country - including here in Indiana - but more important than plans, Obama's decision to reject money from special interests means he'll be better positioned to actually make good on his promises," Stilwell said. "He has a proven record of bringing people together to take on tough challenges, and that's good news for working families in Indiana."
"I am grateful to Representative Stilwell for joining our campaign for change and adding his support to our growing team in Indiana," Obama said. "As a Vietnam veteran and a third-generation miner, Representative Stilwell has served this country bravely and served the working families of Indiana for many years. I look forward to working with him to build a strong grassroots organization in Indiana."
