Actor George Takei's upcoming wedding will be short one Star Trek cast member. The actor who played Hikaru Sulu on the television series and movies told AP Radio this week that he wouldn't be inviting Captain Kirk. "We have only 200 seats. Our contact list has, like, 3,500 names, so we have to whittle it down and I don't know if William Shatner is going to make the cut."
Walter Koenig, who played Chekhov, will be Takei's best man and the matron of honor will be Uhura (Nichelle Nichols). Spock (Leonard Nimoy) is also an invited guest to the Sept. 14 ceremony.
It could be worse. At least he didn't end his comments with his last public statements to Shatner: "I can finally say what I've waited forty years to say: Fuck you and the horse you rode in on!" It may have been a roast, but apparently it was heart felt. Roast video after the jump.

Shatner has been described as egotistic, fat, boring, but in this video you could add perplexed. He was never a generous actor and he and Nimoy and he were known to hate one another. Little known fact, Nimoy was in the original pilot, Shatner was not.

I love George Takei! He makes me smile.
Good for him for not inviting Shatner. It is his special day and who wants someone you can't stand there?

Looks like there's no "space" in the "final tier."
