Well, that would be queer for me... Apparently it is for Katy Perry too.
Alex will be back with your regular Queer Music Friday posts next week; he's moving to Paris this weekend. To make up for my lack of musical preparedness, there's a parody video after the jump.

Reminds me of a 1924 song Why Did I Kiss That Girl?. Nope, I'm not old enough to have heard it in its heyday, but I grew up with a great collection of sheet music from the 20s, 30s and 40s.
You can see the sheet music here.
In the lyric, a bashful 17-y/o, Johnny Green, is all worked up after kissing a girl for the first time. He's all messed up by it, worried and anxious.
The mainstream interpretation is that Johnny is verklempt due to his innocence and clumsiness about taking things further (from a kiss to a hug!). I always enjoyed the readily-accessible alternate interpretation -- that he's worked up because his first foray into boy-girl stuff felt foreign or less than organic how he relates to his buddies, Joe and Jack and Jim.

This song baffles me. I've heard it a couple times and it just makes me wonder. The video features many pinup and pillow-fight type shots of traditionally feminine women -- but no kissing. What gives?
Reminds me of Jill Sobule's song "I Kissed a Girl," whose music video also has no kissing, and provides the imagery of one partner of the lyrics' kiss fantasizing about her husband (is that Fabio?), who possesses flowing long blond locks but seems fairly masculine while the other partner of the kiss thinks about being the knight to the other woman's princess.
