A new Quinnipiac University poll shows Barack Obama leading John McCain in Florida for the first time. Until now, McCain has had the edge -- by 2 to 16 points -- in more than a dozen polls dating to September.
The poll shows Obama leading McCain 47 percent to 43 percent in Florida. He's also up by 6 points in Ohio and 12 points in Pennsylvania. The margin of error in each is about 2.6 percentage points.
In Florida, Obama's lead is built on women (up 10 points over McCain), under-34 voters (up 18 points) and blacks (up a whopping 91 points). And he leads 47-37 among independents, a group supposed to be McCain's strength. White voters favor McCain 50-40.
