With news reports confirming that former Senator Sam Nunn is on the short list for VP pick, it is important that we unite in reminding Senator Obama: Don't Ask Sam Nunn to be your running mate.
Some people say that such a horrible misstep cannot happen. However, Sunday's New York Times has an article about Nunn's significant potential to be selected as VP.

Two key excerpts from the New York Times article:
1) "Mr. Obama appeared with two of the more speculated-about names on Democratic lists, Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana and former Senator Sam Nunn of Georgia."
2) "There is no shortage of what Democrats describe as do-no-harm people he can pick: be it Mr. Bayh; Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware; Mr. Nunn; or Gov. Tim Kaine of Virginia."
So, not only he is considered a serious contender, but some democrats consider that his candidacy would "do no harm." It is critical that all of us speak up immediately about the harm that Senator Nunn had done in the past to our community and how if he becomes the VP pick he could damage the ticket.
Check more details about former Senator Nunn's record on LGBT equality as well as the potential negative impact that he would have on the ticket's chance to win in November.
We cannot afford the risk of remaining silent on this issue.

I agree, guys. Nunn is a horrendous choice for VP and would be a slap in the face to the LGBT community.

It will not be Sam Nunn, but his use of the former Senator's name makes any other choice of VP seem positively liberal no matter what their positions.

hmmm---we need a "do-no-harm" VP candidate....
well, how about Eliot Spitzer...umm..guess not
Tammy Baldwin, gives us a woman VP...oh, yeah, the L thing...no.
Senator Casey....no, probably piss off the pro-choice crowd....
Senator Clinton....nope, that one's out til Bill apologises...
Congressman Kucinich?...the Air Force might have trouble with that choice given the UFO thingie. Nice wife, though...
Ann Coulter? Get her to switch parties and at least she would make Obama's constant steps to the right seem less noticable..
My suggestion:
You are down to selecting a dead Democrat who cannot get you into trouble, or choosing General Clark, who might actually help.

Arnold Schwartzenegger

Arnie can not be VP for any body as he is not a natural born citizen.He can serve in the cabinet but not be in line to be president.But his best vp pick should be Gov. Richardson.

I love Richardson as a possibility, but I'm telling you - it's going to be Evan Bayh. While I'm not too hip on Bayh as a died-in-the-wool liberal, he's a million miles better than Sam Nunn.

You have to remember Sen.Obama is also venting cabinet memeber as well as his VP pick.So these names we all see could very well be future cabinet members and white house staffers. He and McCain both have the luxary oftime to pick people to fil these posts. So todays hot vp pick my be tomorrows secatary of labor etc.

I would possibly agree, Bil ... except that it is bad electoral sectionalism. Illinois is a midwestern state and Indiana is right next door to it. Two many Navy beans in the center of the North American Bingo Card.
The VP pick often comes from an area of the country where the candidate believes he might be weak otherwise. Obama's academic history includes East Coast Ivy League schools, so the New York / New England space on the bingo card is probably already filled, also. Thus, Obama needs to pick a Southerner (but please, no, not Sam Nunn! ... John Edwards, yes!) or maybe a mid-Southwesterner (like Bill Richardson --- BINGO!) Richardson edges out Edwards because Richardson could bring in some Latino votes.
