I don't know about you all, but seeing as you're regular readers of TBP, I'm assuming that you and I are on the same page . . . The Bilerico Project freakin rocks! My family has a pretty weird tradition of issuing spankings on one's birthday. Say what you like about abusive family dynamics and the whole Oedipus thing, but I think we need to bring the kinky tradition over to TBP.
In offering this year's solitary birthday spanking, I wanted to give a few reasons why I love reading (and writing) for TBP so much. At the top of the list are our amazing contributors. Having nationally recognized leaders like Eric Marcus and Kate Clinton on board makes me feel honored just to be here. But I also find that maybe our "lesser-known" writers (not to minimize the importance of their contributions) is also refreshing. We have a lot of different voices: some humorous, some serious, those who love marriage, those who hate it . . . and opinions everywhere in between. If you asked all of our 50+ contributors to share their opinion on a topic, you'd likely get 50+ answers. And we still manage to get along with one another!
But the number 1 reason I enjoy writing for TBP is our readers. Talk about a symphony of different voices! I learn a lot from reading all of your comments, especially those who consistently ask us all to think of something in a different way. Whenever I feel like I might be writing just to hear the sound of my own voice (so to speak), someone leaves a great comment on a post and it's the instant gratification I need to keep going.
