Now it's GOP strategy. Here's a Republican operative, Andrea Tantaros, on MSNBC and Fox News, calling Obama a faggot (full text at Media Matter:
There isn't much surprising about this considering that it's standard-issue Republican strategy just about every election cycle. Tantaros mentions John Kerry, and she's right - they were pulling this shit with him four years ago. Al Gore was portrayed as too feminine, and Bill Clinton was as well because of his uppity wife. And it goes on and on.
So here Tantaros is starting it up again, more directly than the last few times around - she's probably desperate since she knows that there really isn't any other argument as to why McCain would make a better president. This and racism are pretty much it.
McCain's butch and Obama's a fag, no matter what either of them do. It wouldn't matter if McCain were running against The Rock, the strategy would be the same.
It's interesting that Tantaros picked on the fact that Obama went to an Ivy League school as evidence of him being a fancy lad. What does she think of the current Republican president, considering his alma maters of Harvard and Yale?
Oh, that's right, the current president of the United States of America is the GOP's dirty little secret.

Hmmm. I think this article filed by Alex Blaze is streching the truth just a bit. I never heard the word faggot once during the newscast. So to say that a "fancy lad"=faggot is streching it. I am proud that they are saying he like fancy things. Better than old redneck bigot Bush who like very simple things. Don't over do your tagline to get readers. No better than fox news

This isn't stretching the truth at all - video was presented and people can decide for themselves.
But to think that the GOP strategist was just making an innocent comment about Obama liking fancy things (for no reason at all other than that it's interesting to talk about how he likes fancy things!) is a bit naive considering the Republicans' long history with using language like that to paint Democratic men as feminine or gay.

I just watched the video -- she was obviously talking about how Obama is 'fancy' because he's a creation of the media, all glitz and no substance.... not a THING to do with being gay, although I might believe it since some have come forward to say they have had gay sex with him.

I've always wondered just what "gay sex" is. Is it like regular sex, except happier?
Maybe we need to move beyond that divisive term and start calling it "sex equality."
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm about to go off and enact some sex equality with my boyfriend.
