As we charge full-steam ahead into election season, I'm inspired and awed every day by the commitment and passion I see in our community. The level of engagement is unparalleled. Our staff has given 110% in order to get you the latest news and information, campaign leaders are working around the clock to educate voters, and NCLR supporters are stepping up and speaking out against harmful initiatives that would deny members of our community the fundamental freedoms to which everyone is entitled.

In particular, NCLR's board members--past and present--have joined together to help defeat California's Proposition 8--the marriage ban. Without hesitation, they have stepped up and offered themselves wholly and unconditionally to be ambassadors for justice and equality, and are working throughout California to educate voters on the harmful effects of Prop 8 and NCLR's role in defeating the initiative. There is so much power in this conversation.

What makes their impact so great is what makes our board so great: diversity. They are traveling throughout California speaking at San Francisco Giants games, in communities of color, pride festivals, progressive Jewish alliances, women's groups, civil rights organizations, religious and church meetings, film screenings, etc. You name it, and they'll be there, getting people to Vote NO on Prop 8. Their effort and commitment is truly inspiring and I have no doubt that each and every member is helping shape public opinion.

I truly cannot thank the NCLR Board enough for their energy, their passion and their commitment. I hope you follow their example. Every one of us can be an ambassador for justice. Every one of us can change minds and open hearts. Every one of us can take on part of the enormous task of winning in November. If we each do more than we think we can--we will win. So get out there and keep the conversation going.
