Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones died Wednesday after a brain hemorrhage. The Congresswoman had championed the east side of Cleveland and the surrounding suburbs for the last ten years. She was the first black woman elected to Congress from Ohio.
Congresswoman Tubbs Jones "collapsed when she suffered a very serious brain hemorrhage caused by an aneurysm that burst in an inaccessible part of her brain," Gus Kious, president of Huron Hospital, told the Washington Post.

She would often take the time to join us at our national conventions and local membership meetings. Stephanie repeatedly demonstrated her friendship on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives where she was a boisterous, eloquent and effective voice for equality, voting rights and Democratic values.
