Our prayers and thoughts are with the Congresswoman's family and friends today.

Statements by National Stonewall Democrats and Cleveland Stonewall Democrats after the jump.

Today, the Stonewall Democrats issued the following statements on the life of Representative Stephanie Tubbs-Jones (OH):

"Congresswoman Tubbs-Jones was a passionate friend of the Cleveland Stonewall Democrats and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allied Democrats across the country. She would often take the time to join us at our national conventions and local membership meetings. Stephanie repeatedly demonstrated her friendship on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives where she was a boisterous, eloquent and effective voice for equality, voting rights and Democratic values. Our organization was proud to call her a champion, and so many of our members were blessed to call her a friend." - Jon Hoadley, Executive Director, Stonewall Democrats.

"Congresswoman Tubbs-Jones was an outstanding friend and an amazingly productive Congresswoman for our city and greater Cleveland. She never shied from difficult issues and, in fact, she led on them. Locally, I believe that her support for pro-equality positions directly propelled the passage of legislation which has positively impacted our families." - Keli Zehnder, President of the Cleveland Stonewall Democrats.
