Is it just me, or is capitalism coming to an end? Depending on which side of the political spectrum you find yourself on, that could either be a good thing or a bad thing. Either way, we're in for some rocky times ahead (even rockier than we've been facing the past 8 years). So for today's open thread, I thought I'd ask how you're preparing for the apocalypse.
Me, I've gone to Costco to stock up on flour, rice, and canned goods. Oh yeah, and toilet paper. I want to have a clean ass when Jesus comes. What about you?

Toilet paper!! Good idea.
I don't think most Americans are going to feel this until next year...
I took out a bunch of cash and put it in my fire-proof security box at home with the passports. not that it will be worth anything. I suppose I should put in some matches so we can use it to light a fire.
and I'm hanging with my family.

Yeah, I just transferred a big chunk of my savings to ING. I figure the Dutch know a little about banking. It is how they became a naval power in the 1600's, and ING has been around since the 1700's.
Gotta have TP, Sara. Or I guess you could use your money to wipe your ass.

Adjusting the portfolio very slightly and preparing for Monday's 300 point gain in the Dow. The more I hear about the way the oversight is developing in congress, and the assets the government is acquiring at depressed prices, the happier I am about this. This will end up being a net gain to the treasury.
Maybe I should get a bidet if Jesus is coming.

I don't know about you all, but I'm not thinking capitalism's going to come to an end. We're too lazy to create a whole new form of government.

I'd have to have money to move around! I did take some money out of the ATM and put it in my wallet the other day. Does that count?
I live with a teenage girl. We're stocked on toilet paper. That's all I'm saying...

I am remodelling the my home using my last cheque from the bank. It's now or never on this project, I will be back and forth to Europe as it takes place so I will miss most of the dust and paint smell.
Of course, maybe the US Treasury dpartment will need banking attorneys to oversee the companies that they are aquiring.
