This out of the state considering a ban on adoption by unmarried persons:

Federal agents and Arkansas state police had raided the headquarters of Tony Alamo Christian Ministries in tiny Fouke on Saturday and removed six girls ages 10 to 17. They sought evidence that children there had been molested or filmed having sex.

I chose the paragraph above because it points out that a married televangelist from Arkansas, Tony Alamo's, predilection is for young girls. It is far more common for pedophilia based on opposite sex attraction than same, yet we are branded the pedophiles.

Arkansas is considering a ban on adoption by anyone who is not married. The goal of the bill is to prevent same-sex couples from adopting children.

I am guessing that three days ago if Tony had wandered into an adoption agency with his wife he would have flown through the adoption process. Well respected member of the community, strong religious faith and involvement in his church, happily married, stable home, strong financial picture.

So three days ago, the State of Arkansas would have given Tony a little girl to care for till she was grown so that Tony could have a private little harem in his own home and produce "underage girls gone wild" films from the comfort of his basement.

On the flip side, study after study and report after report show children raised in same-sex households fare as well or better than their counterparts in opposite-sex marriages.

The hypocrisy here is just totally disgusting.

To find out how you can help defeat this disgusting effort head to: Arkansas Families First

My first check on their website was to see who was part of the coalition. I was really looking for unions who are opposed to this kind of bigotry and are willing in Arkansas to lend their power to opposing it. None were listed.

The coalition is made up of professional organizations, the ACLU, Democratic Party organizations, etc. In addition, they have been joined by the Interfaith Alliance in Arkansas. The Democratic Attorney General has also come out opposed to the measure.

Just waiting here patiently for the huge power of unions to back us up on this one....
